Part 3 of 4 – Amazing Stories from Transform Uganda IV!

Our last update on the Amazing Stories of Transform Uganda IV was on Sept 7th, when we shared Part 2 of 4 – The Trip to the Village of Wangobo,  ,the experience of Pastor Brad Nassif, Calvary Phoenix, Arizona,  and Chris Magezi, CTM Uganda team member.

This 3rd update is from Pastor Zach Papuga, Calvary Phoenix, as he shares on the Pastors Conference in Kamuli

“The pastors conference in Kamuli was a time of fruitful ministry and encouragement for the pastors of northern Uganda. We spent Sunday exploring some of the villages of the area to gain an awareness of their ministry context. The faithfulness they exhibit in ministry was truly inspiring.

Without that exposure to their ministry context we don’t think the pastors conference would’ve been as effective as it was. Going into the conference we felt inspired and impassioned to share with these rural pastors some biblical foundations and scriptural truths we had prepared.

The first day of the conference was eye opening as we delivered four messages and had two extended times of question and answer. Towards the end of the day we had more questions then we could answer, and we really began to understand the theological and spiritual issues these churches were encountering. This allowed us to tailor our messages for the next day to speak into these issues and to create more time for question and answer.

Day two was even more fruitful as the Holy Spirit helped us bridge cultural barriers and really begin to bring some of the lies and deceit of the enemy that have confused the pastors into the light of truth. We felt that the conference was a good building block for the future and was a wonderful introduction to the church in Uganda.”

Next week check back for the final Part 4 in our series of Amazing Stories from Transform Uganda IV – a final word from Dan Noel and Arthur Magezi.

Blessings,

Paul

Calvary Phoenix Joining CTM and eTeamGlobal in Transform Uganda IV!

Greetings everyone,

As you know, Transform Uganda IV is about to get underway this August 2 – 14th, 2018.  This year a team of people from Oregon, Arizona, and Southern California will be going to Uganda, to join together in powering Transform Uganda IV – our multi-year project to establish churches throughout the back country of Uganda, transforming the lives of thousands – spiritually, socially,  and economically.

Calvary Pastors Join CTM in TU 4!

We are excited that this year a team of pastors from Calvary Phoenix (based in Phoenix, Arizona)  is joining our team from eTeamGlobal (based in Oregon), and CTM U.S.A. (based in Southern California), as well as CTM Uganda.  Listen as they share the vision of Calvary Phoenix, as they participate with us in sharing the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ, training new pastors, and building up the fledgling churches and new believers in the back country of Uganda:

As you heard in the video, we are very big on the role of prayer and the power of prayer in our lives.  Recall that the early followers of Jesus our Lord could have asked Him to teach them a lot of things – how to do miracles, how to heal, how to tame the seas – but what did they ask Him to teach them?  How to pray!

Please Download the Calendar and Keep us in Prayer!

So… please view the attached Prayer Calendar for Transform Uganda IV, and post it on your fridge, near your PC, or atop your dresser – and pray for the fruit of this mission.  That travels would be safe for the pastors, that lives would be touched and brought into the Kingdom of our Lord, and that the new pastors and their families – and the churches – would be strengthened in the might of the Lord.

TU4 Prayer Calendar-FINAL

If You Would Like to Donate to Help, its Easy!

The needs in the villages are many, and so if the Lord is speaking to you about giving to support the work of TU4 in Uganda, rest assured that every cent will go to supporting this mission.  The pastors and staff participating are all participating on a volunteer basis.  And your tax deductible contribution will be used to:

  • Help fund travel expenses for the team to the back country jungle villages being visited
  • Purchasing and supplying bibles for pastors and believers
  • Help fund water wells for a few of the villages desperate for clean water
  • Clothing and shoes for needy villages
  • Teaching materials for pastoral training that will take place

Giving to support this mission is easy!  You can do so online via our secure PayPal account, or by mailing a check.  Just visit our Donate page, pick the amount (one time or recurring donation), and enter a comment regarding how you would like the funds used.

May the Lord our Savior richly bless you and yours for your prayers and support.  And remember to check back here for updates on TU4 as we move forward in Christ, to who we give ALL the glory!

Mid July 2018 – Motor Scooters Delivered to Grateful Pastors!

Motor Cycles Delivered to Grateful Village Pastors!

July 27, 2018 update: Moses Magezi, our faithful servant and project lead on the ground in Uganda, has provided us with an update on the use of some of the funds we raised at the CTM special event we held in June at the home of Dan and Ann Noel.

As you recall, during the June event we were able to raise donations for the work of CTM in Africa.  We noted during the well attended event (we had about 7-80 people attend!) that CTM is entirely dependent on donations from faithful friends and supporters – here in the U.S., and well as to some degree in Africa and elsewhere.

Among the needs mentioned was the need for pastors of these small back country villages to have some form of transportation (other than walking) – to get around the village, go for supplies, and minister to their flock.  As you have seen in previous blogs, we have been providing as many bicycles as we could afford to pastors in the villages.  But some of the larger jungle villages with 100-200 people really calls for a small scooter for the pastor.

We are happy to report that with some of the funds you had donated, we were able to purchase this July four (4) motor scooters for some of the pastors in the larger villages! The pastors who received the motorcycles included:

  • Pr. Paul MWESIGWA from the Bumogoli church
  • Pr, Kizito blessing from the Kabale church
  • Pr. John Okuni from the Kasala church
  • Pr. Vicent Muloki from the Bulondo church

Please see the photos included that depict the events that took place at the meeting in mid July at the Nabigaga church.

The pastors received the motor scooters with great joy. These scooters will allow they to: visit local church members; go for suppliers into the local town, or run an urgent errand.

Notice how the local churches pray for the pastors, and over the motor scooters, as they received these gifts of transportation from our CTM supporters. These pastors are from the same churches we have been visiting over the past 3 years, helping them establish their church, equipping them to teach their members about the Lord, supplying them with materials, enabling them to get access to fresh water when and where we can.

Above you can see the pastors with the 4 scooters, and the church members and leaders praying for them as they get ready to be on their way.

On the right you can see how the church pastors and members assembled are IN prayer over the CTM vehicle, and for Arthur and Esther, Moses, and others of the local CTM team as they get ready to be on their way back to Kampala.

One of the local church leaders also prayed fervently that the motor scooters would be blessed, and the pastors who rode them would be looked after by the Lord of all Creation.  In the video enclosed you can hear her prayers as all listened and joined as one.

In closing, we want to thank you for your generous hearts in giving to make the work of CTM in Uganda possible.  You  are the members of the body of Christ that have made this possible through your giving.  Now these pastors can tend to their churches, and be much more effective in ministry.

To God be the glory!

May CTM Uganda Teaching Event

CTM Uganda May training event

During the middle of May, for about two weeks, CTM visited a number of villages in the back country of Uganda to hold pastoral teaching events.

The goal was to train and further equip all of the leaders  and pastors from the churches in the Busoga region. Two teachers from Nigerian churches came to assist  – the Rev. Sheshi Steven, and Rev. Alisha.

All the pastors and leaders from the Busoga churches attended, including Elder Allan from the Kampala church, Rev.John Dayuru, and the two teachers from Nigeria – that’s Stephen Sheshi, Alisha and Moses Magezi.

After the training CTM held a meeting with all the pastors of Busoga at the Nabigaga church to let them know what the vision for CTM is, and what we see the Lord doing through our ministry to the churches, and the people of God’s churchess.

In addition, Pastor Arthur visited some churches to check on their status, current needs (for water, building, medical needs, etc.) and to encourage the pastors and church leaders – as well as church members.

The churches visited during this id May 2018 trip included the Balawoli church, the Nawangaiza church, the Nabulemezi church, the Kasala church, the Kibale church, and the Nagulu church.

CTM considers the training event a huge success, as well as the visits to the local churches.  We thank all those who continue to be monthly supporters of CTM – through your prayers, and your donations.  You faithfulness is ….

  • Literally building these church structures so the people have a place to meet and worship the Lord
  • Helping to fund the drilling of clear water wells (boreholes) so that villagers can have access to clean water, and avoid disease
  • The support that provides the funds for these training events, and monthly village outreach trips.  Without your support, CTM could not do this!

We thank God for you, and for the work He is able to do through CTM and our volunteers.

May our Lord richly bless you!

Work Progressing on New Borehole for Pastor and Nearby School!

Greetings everyone,

Its April 24th, and I wanted to give you an update on the well (borehole) that is now being dug on a Pastor Arthur’s property outside Kampala, Uganda.

As you recall, about a month & half ago, Pastor Arthur’s well ran dry!  As a result,  there was no water for his family of 11, and they of course became very alarmed.  This was a hand dug well, and not very deep after all.  And so the situation became urgent very quickly!

About a month ago, thanks to your giving and generousity, our CTM base of supporters was able to amass enough donations to truck a tank of water to his home, and at least supply his family in the short term.  In parallel, you gave about $3,000 toward the digging of a new “deep well” on his property. The total cost of drilling the basic deep well is $4,000.

We are now happy to  report that MK Engineering, our local engineering resource and master of well drilling, has started drilling this deep well on Arthur’s property. The well is about 150 deep so far, and they are continuing to drill until they hit the water table (normally this is between 200-300 ft deep).

We need about another $1,000 in donations in order to complete the drilling of this deep well to supply Arthur and his family with water, so please, be in prayer about this, and give to help complete this much needed well by visiting our Donate page (its easy to give online, and don’t forget its tax deductible!)

Another point to note is that we would like to channel some of the water from this well to a neaby primary school.  This will require:

  • Trenches to be dug from the well at the home over to the nearby school
  • Pipes to be laid from the well to the local school
  • Spigots and fittings will need to be installed at the school to supply water to students

The school has no acces to fresh water now, and is within walking

distance of Arthur’s home. If we can raise additional funds, we can install piping from this new well to the near by school, and supply hunreds of small children with clean fresh water.

Note that many students stay the week at schools, and water is essential to their survival. We need about $7,000 in additional donations to do this – please be in prayer and if you feel you would like to help fund this special project, visit our Donate page and enter into your PayPal gift comment “Help fund water to the school”.

Thank you and may our Lord Jesus richly bless you in this life and in the life to come!

January Updates from our CTM Regional Support Team

Greetings in Christ,

As you know, one of our goals in 2018 is to reach out to the local village churches on a monthly basis – visting them, encouraging the pastors and beleivers, and continuing to build up these “baby” village churches.

We thank you our supporters so much for contuing to pray for CTM, and to support the people and these churches financially  on a monthly basis.  During this past month of January, Moses and other members of our regional support team visisted several village churches:

  • The Bulondo church
  • The Irundu church
  • The Sinini church

We had the opportunity to film a couple of the pastors, to provide you with further insight into two of these local village churches:

Highlights from the Bulondo church

The Bulondo church has been planted since 2016, and is now about 1 year old.  Pastor Vicent Mulooki leads the small flock of believers, and has a wife and 5 children to raise as well.  Here is a short video clip of the pastor, who prasies God our Lord for His provision, but also lets us know of the needs of this small but growing church.  Needs that we can help address thorugh our prayer and giving include:

  • Funds and support for a borehole (water well). The community has no well, and thus many contineu to be sick and die of disease
  • Support for buying some land on which to build a church structure. Currently the church building (in photo) is being rented. If you would like to donate toward land for the church structure, please do so!
  • Lack of nearby hospital.  CTM will be visiting this church during our next outreach, to provide medical help and treatment – since there is no nearby hospital or clinic
  • Lack of a school for the children.  The community has no school for the children, so Lord willing CTM will be visiting this church several times this year to provide teaching and training to the families that are part of this village.

Highlights from the Sinini Church

The Sinini church has also been in existence about 1 year, and has now grown to about 70 members.  Pastor Daniel Gwaku leads this small church, and takes care of a wife and 10 children as well!

The church is on temporary land, so they do need money to pay for a permanent structure.  Other needs include:

  • Funds for bibles – currently the church has about 50 bibles in the local language, and the flock numbers about 70.  So we need more bibles.
  • A community school – like so many other communities, the people have no local school for the children.  And so CTM will of course provide some training and teaching during our next outreach here.
  • Medical help – as there is no local clinic, CTM will plan to provide medical treatment during our next outreach to this village. You can help by providing funds for medical supplies!
  • Church land – the church is using rented facilities, so any help you can provide to buy land for a church building would be awesome.

How You Can Help!

First, rermember to pray for the pastors and beleivers in the churches of Sinini and Bulondo.  Pray for their needs specifically, and if you feel led, give whatever you can financially to these churches, to help address these needs.

>> Go to Donate to make your secure, online donation,.

You gift is tax deductible, and we will make sure your donation goes specifiically to meet the need you express when you make your donation.

Thank you, and may the Lord bless your for your prayers and financial support!

Follow-up Program with New Church Plants Engaged – October Update!

Greetings in Christ,

As you know, we had awesome results with Transform Uganda III in July of this year  About 50 volunteers from Uganda, Nigeria, and America came together to help transform 12 back-country villages in the north of Uganda.

Twelve villages that had never heard the good news – how God loves them, and came to earth to give His live as a ransom for sin tomake a may for them into everlasting life – received these volunteers with joy.  And because Christ Transformation Ministries is all about “holistic” transformation, our team brought ….

  • The good news to men, women and children – through our two Villages teams, hundreds heard the gospel and received Jesus into their hearts
  • The Jesus Film to these villages, with over 3,000 viewing the file in the evenings, and over 500 praying to receive Jesus into their hearts as a result!
  • Healing medical treatment – we had two medical teams, each with a doctor and several trained nurses.  Over the course of 1 week, these two teams treated thousands of villagers, dispensing medicine and bringing healing to the villagers.
  • Help with construction – our building team was able to work with CTM Uganda volunteers to complete the anchor church building at Nabigaga, one of the larger church plants.  As a results, the church was able to hold their first worship service in this new building!
  • Clean water where there was none – part of our mission is to make sure each village has access to clean, fresh water.  We dedicated to “deep” water wells during July, which bring fresh clear water to hundreds daily in two of the larger villages

CTM Follow-up Team Forms

Our TU III teams departed Uganda at the beginning of August, but we at Christ Transformation Ministries are committed to following through with these new church plants, ensuring that they fully take root, grow and prosper.

Our follow-up with the new 28 new church plants engaged in October, with three regional teams organized for the task.  Each team was equipped with a motor scooter, provided through your generous donations.  Our white CTM of-road vehicle is used to carry supplies, and support team members.

Goals of Our Monthly Follow-up Program

The goals of our monthly follow-up program are to:

  • Visit on a monthly basis each of the new village churches planted – 12 this past July, and the 16 planted last year – for a total of 28 new churches that need building up and encouragement
  • Ensure that there is a pastor at each village church, and to identify the support needs of the pastor and his/her family
  • A senior CTM pastor will minister and mentor the new church pastor, and ensure that he/she has a bible and teaching materials.  A special message will also be shared with the church members to encourage them.
  • Assess the health of the village church – in terms of do the members have bibles?  Is there a meeting place for the church members, and what is its condition?
  • Identify other needs of each local church, so that this information can be fed back to CTM leadership, and we can bring these needs to the attention of our supports – and let God be the provision for these villagers and new churches.

Churches Visited in October

During October, our regional teams visited the churches of Bumogoli, Kisanga, Nawangaize, and Kasanga. Thanks to Moses Magezi, our follow-up program project manager, we are able to bring you the updates below on three of the churches visited during October.

In the event you wish to provide a tax-deductible donation to help support the pastor, or the needs in any of these churches, please follow the link provide below, and you will be directed to our donate page when you can make your donation.  Be sure to mention in the comments field which church, and the need you would like your funds to apply to.  May God bless you!

Village Churches Visited and Support Needs

The Bumogoli church has about 50 members, and there is a temporary grass roof church structure in place. Pastor Paul leads the congregation, along with his wife and 4 children.  Thanks to your donations, Pastor Paul has transportation – a bicycle – with which to get around the village to visit members, as well as go for supplies.

Although the pastor has a bible, the village church members have no bibles!

How you can help:

  • Donate to help provide bibles to the church members.  A bible costs about $13.  About 25 bibles are needed for the church (families can share a bible).  Go to Donate to help!
  • Donate toward providing a borehole (water well) for this village, so they have access to clean water.  A deep water borehole costs about $6,000 to drill.  If you would like to donate toward this, please go to our Donate page
  • Donate toward a structure and land so these church members can have a more suitable place to meet.  Go to Donate to help!

The Kasanga church was also visited, led by Pastor Emmanuel who is married and has one child.  Thanks to your donations, the pastor has a bicycle to visit the members in his congregation, which numbers about 80.

This new church has a temporary church structure in which the members meet.  And although the pastor does have a bible, the some 80 church members do not have any bibles!  Fortunately, there is a borehole in this village for fresh water – so that basic need has been met.

There is no near-by hospital or medical clinic, so CTM will be looking at how to better service medical needs in the village in the future.

How you can help:

  • Donate to help provide bibles to the church members.  A bible costs about $13.  About 40 bibles are needed for the church (families can share a bible).  Go to Donate to help!
  • Donate toward a structure and land so these church members can have a more suitable place to meet.  Go to Donate to help!

The Kisanga church was also visited this October.  I know the name sounds the same, but this is a different church than the one listed above!  This is one of the larger churches, with about 200 members currently (even though this church was established in 2015!)  Pastor Chris is married, with three young children.

Pastor Chris has a bicycle to get around the community, and has a bible to teach and lead his flock.  But most of the members do not have any bibles!  About 50 bibles are needed in this church.  The church does have a borehole thanks to your donations – praise the Lord!

How can you help?

  • The church could really use a PA system and funds for chairs.  It is difficult for the pastor to project his voice without a PA system, and the congregation needs seating.  Go to Donate to help!
  • Bibles are needed for church members – about 50 are needed, as many can share.  If you would like to donate to help provide bibles to this church, please go to our Get Involved page.
  • The Pastor also needs a donor to come along side him and his family and help support them – so he can use all of his time to devote to the ministry and a growing church. It coasts about $33 a month to support a pastor and a small family.  If you would like to adopt pastor Chris and his family, go to our Get Involved page.

We sincerely thank you for helping to support these new churches, and to enable them by God’s grace to grow and prosper.  Your tax deductible donations will be 100% applied to the purpose for which you are sending the funds, and we will provide you with updates in our blog, web site and Facebook pages about the fruit that will result from your generosity.

By the way, we are in process of building a set of web pages on our web site which will provide you our supporters with a view into each church, along with photos of the pastor and family, the church members, the status of the health of the church, and specific church needs (bibles, teaching materials, food, water, medical, etc.).  Watch for this as a future enhancement to our web site!

May our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, bless you above and beyond your dreams.

Motor Scooters and Bikes Deployed for New Church Followup!

Greetings in the Lord!

Thanks to your donations during the month of September, we were able to send funds to CTM Uganda to purchase two additional motor cycles, in addition to the one motor bike we already had.

This provided us with a total of three motor scooters to enable our three CTM Uganda regional teams to followup with the new church plants established in 2016 (16) and this past July (12 new church plants). Since these young church plants are so many, it seemed best to us to organize three teams – each to followup with a cluster of churches in a region. Arthur Magezi is overseeing the followup program, as Executive Director of CTM, along with Moses Magezi acting as coordinator and project lead.

So our followup game plan has already begun.  The teams have been formed, and a scooter assigned to each.  Our CTM off-road vehicle will be used to carry any additional team resources needed, and supplies (bibles, training materials, food, etc.) as needed to the church locations.

The scooters are designed to carry 1-2 persons to each of the villages where we planted new churches these past two years.  Our goal is to use these, along with the one CTM vehicle we have, to followup with each of these young churches on a monthly basis – visiting each one, to ….

  • Encourage and train up the new pastor
  • Ensure that the pastor has a bible and teaching materials
  • As much as possible, provide the believers in each church with bibles
  • Identify any other needs that the church community might have, such as medical needs, a need for a water well (bore hole), and so on
  • Provide feedback to CTM leadership so we can develop plans to continue the process of building up these churches

Once the motor scooters were purchase by Moses, our project manager with CTM Uganda, they were prayed over and blessed for the tasks ahead.  Each was assigned to a regional team for follow-up,  to get the critical task going of encouraging and building up the new churches and the communities in which they reside.

Again, thanks to all of you who donated to purchases these scooters.  May the Lord bless you!

I also wanted to mention that 12 bicycles were purchased to provide basic transportation to many of the pastors in these new churches that had absolutely NO means of transport – other than by foot.  Those bicycles have now been assigned to needy pastors, and are being used to help them get around their village to visit their church members and families.  The bikes are also used for many other things as well – carrying supplies, water and so forth.

May the Lord richly bless those who gave to provide these much needed bicycles!

Our next Blog and Facebook posting will feature news and photos about the new church that were re-visited in October – to encourage, build up and strengthen these new churches and believers.  We will also be sharing about any needs these young churches may have, and how you may be able to help – by donating to provide bibles, teaching materials, to help drill a well, or meet some other urgent need (see our Get Involved page for details on how to give to meet an identified need)!  So be watching for further updates!

God bless.

Village Church Follow-up Action Plan Launching in October

Greetings,

Following up with and and building up the pastors and believers in the 28 churches we have planted in the last two years is no small task!  It is certainly more that our exective director, Arthur Magezi, can handle by himself. That is why we are engaging a special strategy to be effective:

  • We are organizing three Regional Ministry Teams, each composed of about 4-6 people. Each team will be assigned a
    OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“cluster” of village churches to follow-up with on a monthly basis.

  • Each team will be lead by a Senior Regional Pastor, who will lead the team in its ministry and training to the village pastors and believers in its assigned area
  • Thanks to your donations, CTM will provide each team with a motor scooter to get around to the village churches in its assigned area
  • The goals of these teams will be …
    1) to ensure that bibles and training materials are in place at each of the churches;
    2) that the pastor is trained and equipped to lead his/her local church;
    3) to identify any “needs” that the church has, so that we can become aware, and help meet those needs (medical needs, educational needs, skills-building, fresh water needs, etc.)

To be successful in building up these new churches, we need prayer partners and financial support partners. Please keep our three regional teams in your prayers – to be protected on their monthly journeys, to have the bibles and training materials they need for each journey, and to be blessed and fruitful in their mission.

Please please consider being a monthly CTM financial support partner. We desparately need regular monthly financial partners so that bibles and training matterials can be purchased, fuel can be put in the scooters and the CTM truck, and provisions can be made available to these teams who are going out to the new village churches. We also need bibles for believers, support for village pastors, etc.

Visit our Donate page to become a regular CTM support partner, or our Get Involved page to donate monthly for a specific purpose. Even if you can pledge $10, $20, or any amount, that will be greatly appreciated! As a special thank-you, we will send every monthly supporter your choice of a CTM cap or T-shirt!
